Connect with international UvA alumni and expand your network.
Jump start your career at the Career Networking Events.
The Career Talks feature a panel of international UvA-alumni who will share their experiences in finding a job in the Netherlands after graduation. This plenary panel discussion is followed by informal networking drinks with fellow students and alumni.
The events focus each on a different career sector:
All international UvA students who are exploring the job market and considering their careers path are invited to join this session.
The Career Talks take place in the Music Hall in CREA (Nieuwe Achtergracht 170, 1018 WV Amsterdam) at the Roeterseiland Campus.
The research and academic sector has its own unwritten rules and culture. On the whole, it involves analytical thinking, hard work in a fast-paced environment that has its own demands and rewards. Understanding the dynamics of academia will help you to decide whether a research career is the right fit for you and will aid you in successfully applying for a research position.
This Career Talk will focus on work in the creative, start-up and the tech industry. Think of app development, data & analytics, shared economy platforms, digital media, the gaming industry, advertisement, video, fashion, interactive design, etc. A lot of work in this field takes place in start-ups. What are the possibilities for non-Dutch graduates to work in this sector?
During this second Career Talk you will hear best practices and valuable information to help you take your steps towards work.
Whether you are interested in environmental issues, women’s rights, education, human rights or any other cause, a non-profit organisation is the place where you can work on improving these issues. The non-profit and NGO sector is very broad and includes all organisations that are not privately owned. It covers everything from large organisations such as the EU and UN to very small, quite unknown organisations.
What is it like to work in that sector and how to get in? During this third Career Talk UvA-alumni will throw a light on these questions.
